South Korea LG U + United Huawei completed the first large-scale 5G network test in pre-commercial environment in the world and verified 5G end-to-end system in a typical dense urban area.
The test conducted in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, uses 10 3.5GHz low-frequency base stations and 2 28GHz high-frequency base stations to prepare for the planned launch of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games 5G network.
This test also helped to validate IPTV 4K on-demand and unmanned aerial video broadcast based on 5G networks and other future-oriented 5G commercial services, as well as high and low frequency dual connectivity and inter-cell handover in continuous networking scenarios.
During the test, both achieved an average 1Gbps rate in the low frequency band and achieved peak rates of up to 20Gbps and average rates in excess of 5Gbps using dual connectivity.
"The success of the first 5G pre-commercial network test in the world marks a major breakthrough for both companies in 5G and we believe Huawei will help LG U + deploy the world's first 3.5GHz 5G network." LG U + 5G Network Strategy Director Kim Dae Hee commented
